Fragment Gallery

The gallery is located in the unique modern building Fragment, which blends architecture with art. The building, developed by the real estate company Trigema, features sculptures by artist David Černý, while the interiors are adorned with paintings and prints by artist Petr Kryštůfek—all in the vibrant Karlín district of Prague. It’s hard to imagine a better place for an art gallery. Through the Fragment Gallery, Czech Photo has expanded its activities to include support for artistic photography. A new feature is the creation of a collection of limited-edition photographs by Czech artists—Czech Photo Edition—which has also laid the foundation for a new exhibition collection under the Czech Photo banner. The goal is for the gallery to become a favorite spot for regular visits as well as for informal and official gatherings, where visitors have the opportunity to connect directly with art. Exhibitions are a given, but we place great emphasis on intimate events, art discussions, and regular gatherings centered around photography combined with tastings of fine Dog in Dock wine. The gallery has an area of 63 m2, with 82 linear meters of exhibition space for photographs, and is equipped with state-of-the-art technology: a large-screen display and Samsung Frame screens. Professional lighting was provided by Create Light, and printing equipment by Canon. Czech Photo Czech Photo is a public benefit corporation that organizes the prestigious Czech Press Photo and Czech Nature Photo competitions every year. In October 2016, it established the Czech Photo Centre—a modern, multifunctional exhibition space in Prague 5, right next to the Nové Butovice metro station. At the heart of the center is a photographic archive. The space in front of the gallery is dominated by a work by artist David Černý—a twelve-meter-tall interactive sculpture called Trifot, depicting the evolution of photographic technology throughout human history. Czech Photo supports photography as a whole. It raises the profile of professionals, highlights new talent, and brings photography to the general public. Czech Photo is an umbrella organization that oversees and develops these eight projects: Czech Photo Centre, Czech Press Photo, Czech Nature Photo, Czech Photo Junior, Czech Photo Community, Photo Archiv, Fragment Gallery, and Lihovar Gallery. The members of Czech Photo’s Board of Directors and Supervisory Board include prominent figures in Czech photography.
