Story of Prague is a modern interactive museum located right next to Charles Bridge that shows visitors the real Prague—not as a backdrop for photos, but as a city full of stories, twists, and layers of history.

Across three amazing floors, you’ll journey through 800 years of Prague’s history. You’ll encounter visual installations, augmented reality elements, film narratives, interactive photo spots, and an audio guide that lets you explore the exhibition at your own pace without needing a traditional tour guide.

Story of Prague is suitable for families with children, tourists, groups, and anyone who wants to truly get to know Prague. The exhibition clearly connects key moments in Czech history, legends, and the atmosphere of the Old Town, demonstrating that history can be engaging, visually appealing, and easily understandable even for those who don’t typically visit museums.

Back in Time Prague is a modern interactive exhibition that combines history with the latest technology, offering visitors a unique way to explore Prague’s history. Over the course of about 50 minutes, you’ll journey through 1,200 years of history—from its legendary beginnings to modern events—via eight themed scenes. You’ll experience a 5D cinema with special effects, realistic holograms of historical figures, an animatronic Golem, and an impressive audiovisual show. Back in Time isn’t a traditional museum, but an immersive experience that draws you into the story and presents history in a way you’ve never experienced before. Back in Time is open to children ages 6 and up.

The exhibition “Prague in Detail: The Anatomy of Prague Architecture” draws you into the hidden layers of the city—from delicate ornamentation to unexpected connections. In his works, Tomáš Rygl reveals the fascinating structure of Prague’s architecture and invites you to take a closer look at the details we usually overlook.

Starting at 4:00 p.m., the area in front of the main building of the Museum of Prague will transform into an open-air city festival filled with music, lights, a summer atmosphere, workshops, children’s activities, food, drinks, and a chance to explore the museum after dark.

You can look forward to a festival stage, a Coca-Cola chill zone, and stands from Birell, Bistro Mezi řádky, and Vinohradský pivovar. Inside the museum, you can also visit our purple Grifé bistro for a great burger. There will also be outdoor workshops by PRAHO! project, a puppet show for children, and our museum workshop “Send a Greeting from the Museum,” which you can enjoy right inside the building.

And when it gets dark?
Florenc will be lit up by the iconic Lunalón Moon from the Brno Observatory and Planetarium and special video mapping. The perfect moment for your best selfies of the evening.

And what else is in store? Starting at 10:00 p.m., you can enjoy a unique video mapping show based on the collections of the Museum of Prague. The loop will repeat every 15 minutes until midnight!

Do you understand the speech of your grandparents, friends, or acquaintances from other parts of the country when they speak in dialect? And do they understand you? – ask the curators of the exhibition “Critically Endangered Phenomena of Our Dialects.” The exhibition offers visitors dialect maps, authentic audio recordings from various periods, and interactive elements that show how language has changed over the decades.

One of the elements is an audio map featuring both archival and more recent recordings that document the dynamics of dialect development over the past fifty years.
The exhibition showcases the richness and diversity of dialects, highlights their gradual decline, and presents research findings. 

As part of the exhibition, you can participate in dialect mapping research conducted by the Dialectology Department of the Institute of the Czech Language of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Brno.

During Prague Museum Night, which will kick off with a concert by the Castle Guard Band and the Czech Police, visitors can explore the museum’s permanent collection, including the current exhibitions. An accompanying program has also been prepared, featuring the participation of: the Prague Metropolitan Police Regional Directorate, the National Anti-Drug Headquarters of the Czech Police, the Criminal Investigation Institute of the Czech Police, the Prague Municipal Police, ABC magazine, the Strnadice Police Station, SKAUT VEL PARATUS, and others.

The program is suitable for children; the activities of various police units will be presented, and historical and contemporary vehicles of law enforcement agencies will be on display in the park. Further information about the program will be published gradually on the website of the Police Museum of the Czech Republic (www.muzeumpolicie.cz)

The museum is wheelchair-accessible—the platform providing barrier-free access to the museum for people with physical disabilities has a maximum load capacity of 250 kg. The wheelchair carrying these individuals must not exceed 70 cm in width and 125 cm in height.

In the exhibition *The Space of the Body*, the human body is viewed not only as a physical representation of a person, but also as a space with its own rules. A space that is simultaneously part of another, larger space. A world within a world, whose boundaries are illusory and which constantly permeates everything around it. As humans, we are part of other bodies, yet we often speak of them as something that does not quite belong to us. Something that has a will of its own, so to speak.

We are all a unique combination of the human and the non-human within a seemingly impenetrable shell. This shell, however, is not impenetrable, and it is not only we who inhabit it, but other organisms as well.

How, then, should we approach this shared space, and how should we work with the idea of modifying our own bodies? How can we attune ourselves to the integration of our bodies into a vast, all-encompassing network of relationships, and how can we incorporate other bodies—those living outside our own—into this perspective?

On Saturday, June 13, you’ll have a unique opportunity to visit the Museum of Literature during extended opening hours—until midnight. Come experience our museum in an unusual evening atmosphere.

We are organizing guided tours in Czech and English, as well as the game Valerie and the Night of Wonders for lovers of surrealist literature, inspired by Vítězslav Nezval’s work Valerie and the Week of Wonders. Playing cards will be available for pickup at the museum reception desk. Please bring your own headphones, or we can lend you a pair.

The guided tour in Czech will take place at 7:00 p.m., and the one in English at 8:30 p.m. Admission to the museum is free from 6:00 p.m. to midnight.

A guided tour of the exhibition “It must be the weather” will take place at 6 p.m. with artist Gabriela Slaninková in attendance. In her paintings, the artist reflects on the transience of moods and mental states, which come and go as imperceptibly as changes in the weather. The exhibition is curated by Radek Wohlmuth.

The exhibition presents a collection of the artist’s works, which are being shown in the Czech Republic for the first time. Through a range of multimedia expressions—from painting to watercolor, objects, installations, videos, and assemblages—Pešta, with his characteristic urgency, asks, among other things, WHO actually runs this world. We do not study history so that we are doomed to repeat it, but because we may be able to learn from it how to free ourselves from the ever-repeating stereotype.

In a landscape of shifting freedoms, the fictional agency OKKULTEK emerges from the shadows and opens its doors to new recruits. The exhibition presents a para-ritual environment where obsessions from the past meet the anticipation of future invocations. 

The exhibition will be presented by curators Tereza Havelková and Kateřina Pencová during a guided tour.

- Join in on a collective collage and become a co-creator of a collaborative piece, which we will subsequently exhibit at the Smečky Gallery

3. Everything That Is Waste
- Artworks can also be created by recycling materials we consider waste. Together, we will create such a work from various interesting objects, 
and thus attempt to emulate Trinkewitz’s assemblage *Alles, was der Fall ist*

- Relax and let yourself be inspired by the poetry of Jiří Kolář, one of the most significant Czech collage artists

An exhibition featuring a selection of the best sports photographs by Czech photographers from 2021–2024

The exhibition space at Fragment Gallery—dedicated to photography and named after the modern architectural complex in Prague’s Karlín district of which it is a part—will come alive with incredible images from the world of professional sports. Sports ranging from track and field to ice hockey, the Olympic Games, championship matches of all kinds, classic traditional and modern extreme disciplines, all seasons, speed, precision, teamwork, as well as fans and spectators. And above all, emotions, euphoria, and indescribable disappointment.

The Sports category has long been one of the most popular in the Czech Press Photo competition. This is no coincidence: the Czech Republic is home to an exceptionally strong generation
of sports photographers who can combine quick reflexes with a sense of composition, emotion, and storytelling. They don’t just follow results and records, but also behind-the-scenes moments, the tension before the start, battles pushed to the limits, and the fragile moments after the finish or landing.

The exhibition at the Czech Photo Fragment Gallery presents a selection of photographs from 2021 –
2024, which were featured in exhibitions at the National Museum. The work of 17 photographers shows sports as both drama and ritual—in arenas and beyond. Moreover, the year 2024 fully confirmed the power of sports photography: the title of Photo of the Year was awarded to a shot from track and field, reminding us that even a single moment of movement can carry the story of an entire season—and sometimes an entire generation.

The creative team at Okolo is presenting its sixth exhibition series at the Winternitz Villa.

Curator and architectural historian Adam Štěch builds on his previous exhibition on interwar Japanese architecture and continues to tell the story of the development of modern architecture in Japan during the postwar period. His own photographic research maps the diverse trends of Japanese architectural culture, juxtaposing iconic projects by Kenzo Tange, Kishō Kurokawa, and Kazuo Shinohara with lesser-known and often highly unorthodox examples of Japanese modern architecture. The exhibition also features examples of period furniture and product design.

20th-century Japanese architecture is a fascinating evolution of experiments and adaptations to dramatic changes in society, industry, and modern lifestyles. In the 1950s and 1960s, Japan fully opened itself to the rest of the world, and architecture became one of the main attributes of this new technologically advanced nation.

European modernist influences were transformed by a young generation of architects into a distinctive urban language for densely populated cities. Modernism, Brutalism, and later the specifically Japanese style of Metabolism gave rise to bold new projects that transformed traditional Japan into one of the most modern societies in the world.

During World War II, the MKP was required by decree to remove and destroy thousands of books by “undesirable” authors or on undesirable topics. Our librarians showed great courage—they did not destroy the books, but instead walled them up in the building’s basement. This is how they have been preserved to this day, and you can come see the most interesting ones here. At the exhibition, you’ll find, for example, Masaryk’s writings, literature about the legionnaires, books published by our Sokol members, as well as titles dealing with Freemasons or writers of Jewish origin. These are often unique items that you won’t find anywhere else.

One of the most popular spots for both children and adults. From the outside, the building near the observation tower looks like a small castle, but inside it’s not a labyrinth of secret stone corridors—it’s a maze of mirrors. First, you’ll wander through a three-dimensional depiction of the battle between the people of Prague and the Swedes on Charles Bridge in 1648, and then, in the Hall of Laughter, your reflection in the convex and distorted mirrors will transform you into dwarves, hunchbacks, or tall, lanky figures.

The Technical and Documentation Museum of Prague’s Energy Sector traces the rich history of electricity generation, transmission, and distribution from the early 20th century to the present day.
Visitors will find extra-high, high, and low-voltage equipment, measuring instruments, work and safety gear, as well as documents chronicling the history of Prague’s electrification.  Among the exhibits are some real gems, such as a coin-operated electricity meter from 1938, a case containing an Ozonit medical device, a handwritten physics textbook, as well as state-of-the-art digital electricity meters and samples of 22 kV and 1 kV fiber-optic cables.

The exhibition *The Battle Between YES and NO* is the first major exhibition in the Czech Republic dedicated to William Kentridge, one of the most significant contemporary artists. Kentridge grew up in Johannesburg during the apartheid era, in a family deeply committed to the ideals of social justice. Even as a student, he became involved in anti-apartheid activist movements. These experiences shaped his artistic practice, which reflects the social and historical tensions of South Africa while also addressing universal themes of human existence.

A Different Kind of Library: A Virtual Tour

The five-story Musoleum Gallery is located in the building of a former distillery on the grounds of the Smíchov Distillery. In the gallery, visitors will find David Černý’s life’s work, including iconic pieces such as the barcode babies, the walking Trabant, and the red bus. One floor is dedicated to guest artists.

Starting at 7:30 p.m., you are invited to attend the public dress rehearsal of the Hlahol Singing Society, featuring the Projektchor der Löhe-Schule Nürnberg choir, the Art’n orchestra, and soloists, under the direction of artistic director Roman Z. In the gallery, visitors will learn about the history and present state of radio broadcasting and view a wide variety of equipment—radio receivers, tape recorders, various recording devices, and a number of artifacts from our history. Original recordings from 1945 and 1968 will be played on historic radio receivers.
The exhibition will also feature paintings and prints by the academic painter Martin Velíšek, winner of the Vladimír Boudník Award.

Between 2013 and 2025, the Prague City Gallery acquired 2,366 works of art. In the previous comparable period, the number was just 375. This expansion of the collection makes it possible not only to follow the work of established artists but also to capture developments in the emerging art scene.

The exhibition presents a selection of acquisitions made by Prague City Gallery over a period during which the institution has been led by its director, Magdalena Juříková, who also curated this exhibition and is retiring from her post this year.

An icon of the Czech Republic, a national cultural monument, a symbol of Prague’s history, and the oldest institution of Czech local government. Visit the historic halls of the Old Town Hall and take a look right into the heart of one of the world’s most significant technical monuments—the world’s oldest functioning clock mechanism, the Old Town Astronomical Clock—thanks to its newly accessible digitized version.

The Second Fire is an immersive look at Lake Baikal in Siberia, the oldest, deepest and most voluminous lake in the world. Authors Gabriela Bulisová and Mark Isaac spent a year in eastern Siberia and created a multifaceted project that places special emphasis on the lake’s environmental problems. They capture the vastness and majesty of the lake, intimate moments of its resilient inhabitants and quirky sites, and the urgent dangers that threaten them.

The exhibition focuses on the fates of children and adolescents during one of the most tragic periods in Czech history—the era of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. The broader timeframe of 1939–1947 allows the exhibition to cover not only the period of Nazi occupation but also the years immediately following the end of the war.

Although the end of hostilities in May 1945 marked the cessation of military operations and the dissolution of the Protectorate, for many children it did not signify the end of suffering. On the contrary, many of them had to come to terms with trauma, the loss of loved ones, or changed social conditions only after the war. The aim of the exhibition is to illustrate the complexity of the situation at the time and to show how profoundly history influenced the lives of ordinary people.
The exhibition reveals how the totalitarian regime sought, through ideology, education, and propaganda, to re-educate or physically eliminate selected social groups. The emphasis is primarily on the persecution of children and the disruption of their daily lives, whether through the interruption of their education, the propaganda pressure to which they were subjected, or the Holocaust itself and internment in Nazi camps.

At the same time, however, the exhibition also addresses postwar aid to children. The exhibition explores these experiences through three archetypal characters—a Czech, a Jewish, and a German child. Each offers visitors their own perspective on the events of the time and a distinct experience of the war and its consequences.

The exhibition is complemented by interactive elements that allow visitors to better understand the era and, by completing various tasks, to experience certain situations from the perspective of children at that time. Visitors can also look forward to authentic objects from the Protectorate and postwar periods—toys, books, textbooks, clothing, medical equipment, and items from UNRRA.

At the Jelení Gallery, you can see the exhibition *Before the Earth Sinks In*, created through a collaboration between Apolena Typltová and Radka Čejdíková, students in the Photography II studio at Prague’s UMPRUM. While Apolena Typltová focuses on the dilapidated environments of workshops, Radka Čejdíková finds inspiration in nature’s struggle with the decaying wrecks of cars in junkyards. The exhibition is curated by Alena Kotzmannová.

Visitors to the House of National Minorities can look forward to an abridged Czech-Slovak theatrical version of *Mysteria Buffa*, an introduction to the history of the tie—a gift to the world from the Croatians—and a workshop on *vyšívanky*, the technique used to decorate Ukrainian folk costumes, specifically embroidered shirts.
 
Live folklore will also be represented in the form of Rusyn, Hungarian, Serbian, and Greek dance and song, where you can learn the basic dance steps and join our dancers. Representatives from the dance and folklore ensembles Nyitnikék, Radost, Akropolis, Rusíni.cz, and Bulgari are already looking forward to seeing you.

House of National Minorities

"When God Wasn't Looking..." is the title of an exhibition of black-and-white photographs from a land that no longer exists. Three members of the 400ASA association—Karel Cudlín, Antonín Kratochvíl, and Jan Mihaliček—photographed Nagorno-Karabakh at the end of the last millennium. Each at a different time, in a different place, under different circumstances, and each through their own unique lens. The photographs thus depict war, refugees, but also the country’s postwar reconstruction during rare moments of peace. As a whole, the exhibition speaks to the senselessness of war and, above all, to the greatest victim of every armed conflict—the ordinary person.

At Galerie Kurzor, look forward to the second exhibition in the series “Conversations on Reproductions,” titled “The Structure of the Image System.” The common theme among the three exhibiting artists—Jan Nálevka, Adéla Svobodová, and Ally Dau—is a reflection on the image as a record of the process that shaped it.

This year’s exhibition program at the Kurzor Gallery is based on conversations between Hana Buddeus, Zbyněk Baladrán, Meghan Forbes, and Adéla Svobodová.

Structure of the image system

The exhibition will present a selection of works from recent years by the painter and sculptor (1945–2025), who passed away unexpectedly. His work is characterized by the clash between spontaneous and explosive painterly gestures and their “overlaying” or channeling through lines and other geometric shapes.

From 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., visitors to the NR Gallery on the ground floor can hear a talk on the life and work of the late František Koudelka, a longtime member of the New Association of Prague Artists, presented by NSPU Chairwoman Alena Petříčková and her husband Oldřich Žáček.

New Town Hall

The NGP’s Asian Art Collection presents, in a new permanent exhibition at the Salm Palace, a selection of 520 works of art from Asia and the Islamic world, created over a span of 5,000 years and, among other things, situated within the context of cultural relations with Central Europe.
Organized into two main sections, the exhibition focuses on themes related to the cultural history of the Czech lands and highlights the qualities and significance of works from Asian and Islamic visual cultures within their original contexts. It also reveals the provenance of the works, including how they were acquired for the NGP collections.

The introductory section recalls the historical framework of European Orientalism and colonial policy, which contributed to the spread of awareness of Asian and Islamic artistic traditions as well as to collecting in the Czech lands from the 16th to the 20th century. In addition to historical presentations of Asian and Middle Eastern countries within the context of world exhibitions, shop windows displaying goods from the “Orient,” or private interiors with “Oriental” décor, the exhibition features prominent Czech scholars, collectors, and artists from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries who reflected on Asian and Islamic art through scholarly or creative means.

The second, more extensive section of the exhibition presents Chinese, Japanese, Tibetan, Indian, and Islamic cultural spheres from the 3rd millennium BCE to the present day, viewed through the lens of a contemporary interdisciplinary approach combining art history, Asian and Islamic studies, and museology. Within thematic contexts, the exhibition explores spiritual traditions, writing and calligraphy, decoration and ornamentation, and the natural and human worlds in individual visual cultures. The representation of cultural regions and historical periods is uneven, reflecting the nature of collecting in the Czech lands.
The exhibition opens up space for exploring intercultural connections and critically revising historical approaches as one of the goals of decolonization in museum practice. It seeks to bridge stereotypical Eurocentric perspectives and incorporate the approaches of Asian experts in the interpretation and presentation of works to foster a more comprehensive understanding. The exhibition features audiovisual and interactive elements, an audio guide, spaces for rest and meditation, and an educational workshop.

Through light, movement, and sound, it explores the echoes of the digital world in our reality. One moment you find yourself in an illusion that crumbles with every step. The next, you enter a system whose behavior is both precise and unpredictable. Here, light sketches thoughts. Sound controls both space and events.

Come take a look into the world of teeth, jaws, and real anthropological finds. During the workshop, you’ll uncover traces of disease and the daily lives of our ancestors, and discover why prevention is more important than we think.

Hidden, unique, romantic—that is how the garden of Šternberk Palace is often described. It offers a view of the palace’s most beautiful architectural features, provides a glimpse into the Deer Moat, and presents a rare opportunity for contemplation beneath majestic trees. Yet the garden’s tranquility is only apparent. Is the athletic Odysseus not attacking the woman playing with a dolphin? Is the girl cautiously making her way toward the pond not in danger? Probably not. The stork continues to intently watch the fish in the water, undisturbed. Let’s explore together the possible interactions between the figures cast in bronze and stone in this magical garden. An exclusive selection of 20th-century Czech sculpture offers us this opportunity. We will walk past sculptures by Jan Štursa, Jan Lauda, and Hana Wichterlová. Lecture by Jitka Handlová.

The performance by Tereza Silon & others at the Convent of St. Agnes of Bohemia intertwines text, movement, and sound. It offers an original exploration of mysticism, physicality, and collective experience, drawing loose inspiration from the book *Heavy and Grace*, the biography of Simone Weil, and the symbolism of the convent’s plants.
“The only thing that can be an end in itself, since it is the only thing in relation to the human individual that possesses a certain kind of transcendence, is collectivity.”* Simone Weil, Gravity and Grace.

From asceticism to erotic transcendence—mystical traditions are forms of embodied knowledge across cultures and religions. Mysticism is a practical tool for connecting with that which transcends us.

In a performance taking place in a historic monastery complex, Tereza Silon, together with performers Lea Elisha and Adéla Sobotková, will explore artistically rendered references to mysticism from history to the present through text and movement, accompanied by a sound composition by Adéla Sobotková (aka New Magic Media). Inspiration will also draw from the work and biographical moments of Simone Weil, a French Christian mystic, philosopher, and political activist, whose themes the texts will freely develop and interweave.

Further inspiration will come from the plants in the monastery gardens, many of which belong to the Rosaceae family—visually associated, through their five-petaled flowers, with the orbit of Venus. Hildegard of Bingen, one of the most famous mystics and polymaths, describes in her concept of viriditas as the opposite of sin everything that is “wet, green, moist, and juicy.”

The program will begin in the monastery gardens with an artistic botanical walk, during which we will stop at selected shrubs, trees, and plants, as well as at the ongoing hydrodistillation of herbs.

We will then move to the interior of the monastery, where the program will continue.

Artist Oldřich Kulhánek is well known to the Czech public primarily for the banknotes that pass through our hands every day. However, his work extends far beyond this. The exhibition also presents lesser-known aspects of the oeuvre of one of the most prominent figures in Czech graphic art.

The Old Masters exhibition at the Schwarzenberg Palace presents a selection of the most significant masterpieces from the Collection of Old Art (Hans von Aachen, Petr Brandl, Matyáš Bernard Braun, Lucas Cranach, Adriaen de Vries, Albrecht Dürer, El Greco, Hans Holbein, Jan Gossaert, known as Mabuse, Peter Paul Rubens, Bartholomaeus Spranger, Karel Škréta, Michael Leopold Willmann, and others).

Its primary time frame spans the 16th to the 18th centuries, based on a retrospective view of pre-Renaissance tendencies in Gothic art and ancient works as sources of inspiration for Renaissance and Baroque art. The exhibition is conceived as a dialogue between national and international impulses, influences, and changes in the spirit of a dialectic of forms, styles, and motifs. From a curatorial perspective, it reflects the narrative aspects of European art from antiquity to the Enlightenment, historical contexts, and the timelessness of masterful works of art in an innovative installation. One section of the exhibition is dedicated to artistic production in Bohemia during the Baroque period, led by the prominent painters Karel Škréta and Petr Brandl, and the sculptor Matyáš Bernard Braun.

As part of the main entrance to the Schwarzenberg Palace, the original entrance from Hradčanské Square through the courtyard has been restored. Three halls on the ground floor are reserved for temporary collection exhibitions, and two rooms will serve as graphic art galleries.

THE HISTORY OF NEW TOWN AND PANORAMIC VIEWS OF PRAGUE. The exhibition presents the history of New Town as well as the oldest panoramic views of Prague, which depict the city from elevated vantage points surrounding the entire Prague basin. The exhibition consists of copies of historical engravings from the archives of the City of Prague Museum. The tower’s observation deck offers a beautiful view of Prague at night.

EDEN, a solo exhibition by set designer, puppeteer, illustrator, and graphic artist Hza Bažant, presents works created from 2020 to the present, all united by the motif of the garden as a private paradise—a space of beauty, abundance, and inevitable transience. The individual graphic works create separate worlds with their own inhabitants, rules, and stories, interconnected by the endless natural cycle of birth, growth, decay, and renewal. The artist returns to memories, childhood landscapes, and the passage of time, and through the motif of the garden, he explores humanity’s relationship with nature, uncertainty, and things that can never be fully controlled.

The exhibition builds on the previous Nusle series and expands on a fascination with elemental places on the border between order and wildness. In his prints, Bažant deliberately works with offset registration and layering of the image, thereby creating space for the search for hidden meanings and the viewer’s own imagination. The exhibition also features the motif of the Gardener—a symbol of order, control, and humanity’s efforts to tame nature. EDEN invites visitors to join in the search for their own personal paradise. The opening will be accompanied by music from the experimental ambient group Kora et le Mechanix.

The Gas Industry Museum on the Pražská plynárenská premises in Prague 4 – Michle will be open to the public,
and visitors will also be provided with expert commentary.
 
Visitors will learn about the history and development of the gas industry and the use of gas, and will see original artifacts and models of various gas-related equipment, historical gas appliances, publications, period photographs, and films.
 
Among the museum’s curiosities and rarities are an oval gas pipe from Charles Bridge dating from 1878, a Neo-Rococo Villeroy & Boch castle gas stove from the 1870s, a “Bavaria” gas film projector and a “Laterna Magica” gas slide projector from the late 19th century, a gas-powered hat shaper from England, a waffle maker from Germany, a Czech Moretta automatic washing machine with gas-heated water, Art Nouveau gas interior chandeliers, a gas-powered mangle, a gas refrigerator, and a number of historic gas-powered coffee roasters.

The internationally acclaimed exhibition *Echoes of Tomorrow* is currently complemented by the accompanying exhibition *Dream on! Where it all began*, which takes you back in time to relive memories of previous editions of the Signal Festival.

You can look forward to the six most popular video mappings from the Signal Festival, which have been projected onto the iconic Basilica of St. Ludmila in the past. Right in the gallery foyer, you’ll also be greeted by Reflexe by artists Adam Cigler and Petr Vacek—a hypnotic kinetic installation made of moving mirrors that reflects, transforms, and fragments the surrounding world as well as the visitors themselves.

DREAM ON! WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

The anniversary exhibition by painter Jan Rapin, titled ELEGANCE, organized in collaboration with the SOCHÁRIUM Gallery to mark his 70th birthday, will present the most comprehensive overview of the artist’s work to date.

The exhibition, running through May 31, 2026, will be divided into two parts—the ground-floor Gallery will feature works from the past ten years, while the Gallery in the Tower will organize each floor into thematic sections. Visitors will thus pass through the Gentlemen’s Lounge, enter the Gentlemen’s Club, find themselves in the Hall of Music and Dance, and even peek into the artist’s studio.

The exhibition invites visitors into a world of paintings in which elegance and feminine beauty become the central motif, permeating the artist’s entire body of work. The paintings are sensitively complemented by sculptures by artists who also explore this theme, such as Zdeněk Legner, Barbora Fausová, and the late legend Vítězslav Odstrčil.

During Museum Night 2026, the Rothmayer family villa will open its doors to visitors in the evening. The house was home to Božena Horneková-Rothmayerová, a fashion reformer; Otto Rothmayer, the architect of Prague Castle; and their son Jan, a technological visionary who transformed the villa into a prototype of today’s smart home.
The villa will be open for self-guided tours from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM, allowing you to experience the nighttime atmosphere of the villa and its gardens.

Through nearly two hundred photographs taken between 1996 and 2026, the exhibition offers a unique opportunity to journey through Israel from the Golan Heights to the Sinai Peninsula, while recalling many of the defining moments in the life of this ethnically and culturally diverse Middle Eastern country. Thanks to Cudlín’s exceptionally deep immersion in the life of Israeli society, his photographs offer a glimpse beneath the surface of everyday life, from which the author extracts images of extraordinary urgency and beauty with a quick and unmistakable photographic touch—images full of tension, joy, vulnerability, and hope. The exhibition, organized in collaboration with the 400 ASA photography association, is being held to mark the first edition of Cudlín’s eponymous photography book.

The artist will be present in person at the exhibition hall from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Painter Jan Rapin will set up his “artist’s studio” on the 4th floor of the New Town Hall tower.

You’ll find him here right in the middle of his work, with a glass of fine port, a brush in hand, and surrounded by the atmosphere of authentic, live creation.
 
Visitors will thus have a unique opportunity to watch Jan Rapin at work, chat with him about his paintings, and discuss the creative process itself. 

An evening when art doesn’t put on airs, but simply lives the way Jan Rapin likes it.

At this one-of-a-kind location in Prague, you’ll have the opportunity to watch this Czech Lion-nominated film—in the Best Animated Film category—through special VR goggles. Director Ondřej Moravec’s autobiographical film uses this new medium to offer a glimpse into the mind of a man grappling with his inner demons.
